1957 Hadeland Lag Fane (Banner)
The original Hadeland Lag banner was made in 1957. Mrs. Alfred Sivisen of Mabel, Minnesota, was in charge of making the banner. Handwork was done by Laura Hjelle Hoeg of Decorah, Iowa. The Norwegian national emblem, a shield bearing a lion backed by the Norwegian Flag, is the centerpiece of the banner. Arched over the top is "Hadelandslaget" and the years 1910-1957. 1910 is the year the lag was organized; 1957 is the year this banner was made. Beneath the emblem, the motto "Enig og Tro" (United and Faithful) is printed. The reverse side of the banner is cream-colored silk with the Lutheran rose in the center and the motto "God is Our Heritage." Both sides of the banner are decorated with rosemaling. In 1977, Harriet Foss made a "Welcome Banner" to honor the arrival of the Mannskoret KK from Hadeland. This banner featured the Sister Churches on one side and a woman wearing a Hadeland bunad on the other. The whereabouts of this banner is unknown. |
