The 2010 stevne was
held at Winona State University from Wednesday, July 14
through Saturday, July 17th. A "Gathering Time" was held for early
arrivals on Wednesday evening, with music by the Nor Win Singers. On
Thursday, the opening session included greetings from all the Lag
presidents, the president of the Bygdelagenes Fellesraad, and a
representative of Winona State. Thursday continued with research in the University Library, classes and presentations in Kryskjo Commons, and an afternoon tour of Historic Lanesboro, Minnesota, that included a play at the theatre there. along with classes, vendors, and genealogical research, stevne attendees could tour Historic Lanesboro, Minnesota, and were treated to a play at the theatre there. On Friday morning, many stevne goers took advantage of a tour of Trempeauleau County, Wisconsin. At noon, a tour of the beautiful and historic buildings in Winona was on the agenda. Classes, presentations, genealogy research and browsing the vendors kept those who chose not to tour busy. Friday evening, the 7-Lag banquet began with the traditional bunad parade. Toe-tapping music and good laughs were provided by entertainers Dave Olson and Dave Fischer. Saturday was set aside for lag activities. For Hadeland, Land, and Toten this meant a celebration of their centennials that included a picnic in a local park. Saturday evening, a joint Centennial banquet was held and gifts were presented to each of the centennial lag presidents from Marilyn Somdahl, representing the Bygdelagenes Fellesraad. |
